Montezuma Castle is It is located between Phoenix and Flagstaff in north central Arizona just off the main freeway.

It is a well known indian cliff dwelling of the Sinagua Indians that settled in the Verde Valley in the 12th Century.

In its hayday the primary cliff dwelling was home to about 20 families. 40 other families lived nearby in a ground level condominium. The Sinagua were a pastoral people and grew crops for food along a nearby creek.

Since I knew my book title would sound like something made up I thought it would be a terrific idea to include it in the frame.

Nobody agreed. :)

Dang, and I worked hard to bring in detail from the shaded foreground area.

Nice choice of scene.

I've been there! :-)

This is a very nice shot of Montezuma's Castle - but I would prefer it without the book in the foreground. I would probably have cropped out most of the rocks and left the focus on the Indian ruins. Great idea for the challenge.

The book in the photo wasn't necessary and ruins the shot.

Probably would have enjoyed it more without actually showing the book... but still certainly a cool spot :)

This would be a lot more interesting without the book in the foreground, don't you think? Less foreground and more sky?

Too bad the colors of the rocks didn't come out as good as they can. Good caputure.

You really have captured this (exactly). Love the colours and lighting.

maybe you could have photographed your photo in sunrise/set to increase the orange on the rock.

Beautiful nature shot! :-) Anyway, I am not sure about the book, I think it spoils the composition. :-( The colours of the book don't fit the colours of the environment, and it leads my eyes away from the subject.

The book on the bottom of the shot ruins the photo for me, otherwise nice shot.

Almost a nice photo... the book in the bottom of the image sorta ruins it though.
