The building on the right is or new bookstore at my college. I converted from raw twice, once for the sky once for the reflections. then lots of burning and dodging. :)
Day seveN
To anyone curoius about how I do dodging and burning. I duplicate the image/background layer and set to opacity to 50% then burn or dodge around 3-8%. This gives me a little leeway and can thhen slide the effect of the strength.

I just love this effect of this one Joe. It has so much power, movement, and drama with the composition and reflecrion.
Very powerful, and so magical IMO.

Thanks for the tips on dodging and burning. I will use that method. Your wonderful toning on the water is really nice.

My daughter is writing my comments this evening and she says 'it's very stormy, the sky is very dark and looks thundery.'

Very dramatic! The sky with those tall trees, almost foreboding!

excellent job with post processing. the b&w really brings out the feeling of a cold and dark winter day.

You have really added some interest here by post processing this like this. It is dramatic, but not too much.

Ohmygoodness. This is spectacular. Very smart to add drama and strength this by converting it to black and white. It is PERFECT!

I like the way the clouds look in this one. It is extra cool how they sweep up the slant in the dark building on the right. The great reflection makes it double cool. Good capture, and excellent PP.

So much is wonderful about this shot - the clarity of the reflection is awesome - the clouds are sublime and as always your black and white is yummy!

Thank you so much for sharing your techniques - they are of great value to me as I grow on my journey with photoshop.

lovely reflection! I like this in b/w, but it looks a tad too dark.

ah ha .. the black and white man!! ...:) ... i love this photograph ... excellent result and love your processing .. i'm finding that i'v been converting from raw twice in heaps of my photographs, especially when i've got sky & landscape .. either the sky'll be ok and the landscape too dark or the landscape ok and the sky burned out .... i did it for the library, coz the outide was too pale compared to inside the library ... isnt photoshop awesome !!! ...
love your work & love the feel i get off this image ... i have a particular liking for the somber, moody or eerie ... this is all those things for me with the added bonus of being extremely dramatic ......
i got my computer upgraded and back all in the space of 36 hours ... this is the my first comment on my new system .. its so much faster ... which is very important to me, coz i'm impatient!! ..
