From the Critique Club
Things I like: Nice compostion! Touching, if a tad bit disturbing 'story' told by the shot. Nice use of B/W treatment to help set the mood.
Things I don't like: The whites are overexposed including the bag behind & left of the man and the hightlights in the dog you can see. The black dog is hidden so you can't see it's face. I almost didn't realize that there was another dog. A slightly different angle might have helped with that. The shot seems a touch soft on focus and a touch grainy. Did you use a digital zoom here? That would explain the focus/noise issues. Also contrast is a bit soft for a B/W image.
Overall, a nice photojournalistic type shot but not one I would want to hang on my wall.

This is perhaps the most "chilling" literalism I've seen. May people like this gentleman don't even live as good as a dog. But it's also irony, since "A dogs life" is usually interpreted as meaning "A lazy, do nothing life". This person doesn't strike me as being there "voluntarily".
As to the picture itself, it seems a little unclear/unsharp, whether it be from resolution or focus. |

This is a wonderful shot! That dog is wonderful! But the photograph is not sharp at all. Nothing in the shot appears sharp either. To me, a picture like this needs to be in focus, showing "stark reality." I'm interested to hear if that was what you intended, or it was a technical or equipment foul-up? |

Quite a statement about poverty, and good composition and lighting. |

Not sure if the soft focus was intentional, but I would like to have seen it sharper. The man's seems to have alot of character. |

What an impact. I wish this would have had more contrast to it. Great capture. |

Contrast could have done with a boost which would have helped a lot. Good angle and subject. 5 |

I think the man's face a bit out of focus, photo a little blur. |
