I took a people photography class some years ago, and the first lesson was geared toward awkward places to chop the human body. Cutting the body off at major joints almost always looks accidental rather than one's compositional intent. Every person in your composition is chopped in some awkward manner. I still think you could have pulled this one off simply by eliminating the two individuals in the foreground. The squinting lady and the quarter-person on the left of the frame are both very distracting. I do like your crisp focus and the terrific color you captured. With some work on your composition, this one would have surely been much stronger. |

nice exposure and focus. as far as "street"...the woman looks confused as to what is going on which is a good start, but i don't see how it fits into an overall story for the image. compositionally the character on the left being cutoff feels awkward. so if your point was to just photograph a rally you should have better framed the "join the fight", if your point is deeper, i'm sorry i don't see it. |

just what I was hoping for in a street photo challenge...I wonder what monster cable has done...well other than being outrageouly over priced. I wonder if he as a monster cable plugged into his guitar lol.
I like that you are able to distinguish a subject but also tell a story, had you zoomed in too tight (like a few have done) you would have lost all the valuable information thats there. You left plenty of room for the subject and the views eyes to wonder yet still get pulled back to the main area. I also like that you didn't just stand way back and shoot the whole event. Well done. |
