This assignment was hard for me. I felt weird about taking a photo of a stranger. This wasn't what I envisioned.

There was a lot of editing because the man's face was in shadow and I couldn't light him up in any way. Toned mapped just a little, then many layers with levels, dodge and burn etc... I converted to black and white and adjusted again. Ran NN twice. Blurred slightly. Added a slight tone to the Black and white. Darn! I don't know what I am doing, yet! I just messed with it until I saw something I liked.

Afraid to enter it, but need to get over the fears and do it anyway.

I think you did great! You were out of your comfort zone, but you'd never know it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets the heebie jeebies every time I get ready to enter a picture! :)

I like the scene, but it is a bit too dark, probably difficult with that strong sun.

I like the high contrast and the "frozen in time" effect achieved by the fast shutter. The backlighting is a mixed bag IMO; works well with the gulls, the ornamental grass behind the guy, but also results in less detail in his face than I would like. (6)
