Yes - a boring generic shot and my guess is this will be one of at least 30 AIDS ribbon shots. I scrapped my creative idea in favor of ho-hum after reading the thread on this challenge and was afraid of getting hit hard by the DNMC nazi's for using an initialism vs. an acronym.

I do like the heart shape of my hands in this shot and I think it suits the subject matter well. I remember when the news of AIDS hit the mainstream. I was a kid - it was all so confusing and sad. I also remember that before the news broke there was a commercial on TV advertising some sort of diet supplement called "AIDS" (or maybe "AIDES?). As I kid I wondered how on earth that innocent looking choclatey supplement had caused so much turmoil!

Shot in RAW with our new 30D! Raw conversions. Elements - levels, hue/saturation, blur, minor cloning, USM, neat image, burn, dodge, selective color, crop, border, save for web,

To me, this shot is one of showing compassion. I know some people contract AIDS as a result of their lifestyle, but there are also innocents that get it, too. And, regardless of how they got it, they are still people who are hurting. In my life, I've known about AIDS since before it had a name. I remember my uncle (who now has AIDS), my mother, and my grandmother talking in hushed worried voices about another "friend" that had "that disease that they don't know what it is, what causes it, or how to cure it." It would be two or three years later before it had a name. Thirty years later, there is still no cure, but we should be willing to give a hand to help however we can. Great image.

a good Strong image-though the blotchiness of the hands is a little distracting to me. Perhaps you needed to warm them up :-)

Excellent concept. The lighting and focus is spot on. Would make a great inspirational poster for the cause. Bravo.
