It's my kitty, wahoo. I really need to get a model. Had another idea, but my wife is too lazy to help me.

post consisted of Capture NX: Some LCH for the light contrast, some added brightness adjustment, White Balance fix, unsharp mask and resize. 2 stops underexposed with a couple of mini-mag lights for highlights. Purposely went for the soft focus. If it weren't basic editing I would have highlighted the eyes a bit more to bring out the green pupils.

I want to say this is 5.9 material, but expecting a 5.3. It's a cat shot after all. Curious to see how many people get the title.

Post Challenge Comments:
Well lower than expected. Soft focus was intentional, but didn't pan out. Looks like no one got the title, or at least it made little difference. Note to self, never use Pets. :)

I gave this a 7 - I'm not necessarily of fan of softness but loved the soft of this - it fits well with the subject - makes you want to reach out and give a tickle under the chin.

Nah, keep using pets. They're the only models I have, too, since I don't use me. I liked the softness of the fur in this, but would have liked to have seen more of the eyes.

cute kitty! would've liked to see more of the eyes though. Druli (aka Octopussy) says hi.

I think if you had cropped out the pillow, this would have scored higher. Wonderful low key subject, and you captured the texture of the fur nicely.

This is very cute, but, that one bright catchlight in all the softness and darkness really throws you. I think if you could have gotten a little more light onto both eyes it would have done much better.

Jayson, I think this is a very nice Low key shot. I think what hurt was the focus thing. It should be a little sharper. I think the red on the left and right is very nice and adds well to the shot.

Cats are always gorgeous! The pic is nice in theory but maybe a bit closer up to see the eyes and give it some personality?
