Great capture! Alot of intensity! Do you set your camera for multiple exposures? It would be nice to see a triptyche of progressing action on this play. :) |

Nice capture of action. I think I'd like to see a higher shutter speed would sharpen her face a bit more. |

I just don't get the use of colour for images like this: to my eye, it removes all sense of dynamic, of action, of expression. It becomes clinical, too carefully observed and selected, cold, in the end, meaningless. The light is, of course, dreadful - as in any kind of sports hall situation.
I know it's actually a very strong action photograph: perhaps I just don't have the slightest interest in action photographs. Whatever the reason, I actively dislike this image, and I'm struggling to know why. Something here doesn't engage me, for sure - I'm wondering if that is simply the light, the flatness, featurelessness of it, the fact that the background is just as bright as your subjects, the lack of sense of contrast in light. The composition, framing, upsets me too - the available space image left seems to dismiss the presence of the green figure, almost telling me to focus entirely on the power, the sense of success, the aggressor in the girl shooting; almost as though the girl in green were incidental, only included to avoid cropping some part of her body out of the image. I don't understand.
Just don't understand. |
