Can't wait for the barrage of DNMC comments i'm going to get... I personally see it as a broken circle on a field of glowing circles, but most will probably see it as a totally uncircular load of feathers with a neck.
This wasn't actually shot in a sunrise or sunset, although the sun was pretty low in the sky. The actual shot taken was so colour-neutral that it was completely indistinguishable from a straight desat:
While quite a strong effect in itself, after much deliberation i decided that the voters would probably prefer a more classical sunrise shot. I flat desaturated the image, and converted to duotone (well, quadtone in fact), using a very carefully tinkered arrangement of curves to simulate a sunrise:
The original shot was quite wide, so eventually decided on a square crop with the bird on a third. Convert back to RGB, resize, sharpen and optimise for web. I don't usually bother stripping exif data etc, but i had to compress this a lot more than i'm used to, to get it under the size limit. |

The effect that you achieved with this one is just amazing.....
Love the colors and also the composition as well.
Quite magical bokeh in this one, that makes this image pop..... |

Wow... 119th. I scored one of the 10s and expeted this to win.
It's definitely a circle and a perfect fit for the challenge. Great shot to me.
A bit disapointed to see that these beutiful colors are not "natural" :)

Wow... great. One of the more original interpretations of the challenge. Have you tried a black border with a thin orange line inside? |

It might be my monitor, but there is a little bit too much light in the top right corner, otherwise a fabulous shot, really beautiful. |
