This photo has two disparate subjects: the coffee mug with spoon in the foreground and a tree as part of a partly obscured landscape. The depth of field is so large that both the object closest to the lens and the tree (at a good distance away) are in focus.
This alone could, IMO, make for an interesting and apt juxtaposition, the two parallel planks, however, introduce yet another (middle-) plane to the image which add nothing but an obscuring distraction.
While the rendering of the two frontal objects is reasonably apt for the purpose, the choice of a multi-purpose mug together with a perspective which does not permit any insight into its contents, -hangs- the title, figuratively speaking. Neither is there any evidence of steam above it, which would be a reasonable expectation given the fact that the trees are bare.
The near central position of the dominant mug in this shot adds an almost brutal staticity.
The sensibilities of this photo strike me as either crude or hurried.

Very cool composition, and the black and white really works. Good DOF too. Only criticism is I would have liked to have seen loess of the top boarder, and more of the trees... |

I am a big fan of black and white, coffee, and the wonderful peace that seems to be conveyed by the landscape in your shot. With all of that, this photo has a lot of appeal to me on many levels! I would love to have seen a more dynamic composition with the placement of the mug and the spoon, but overall it has a nice tonal range and I like this shot very much. |

neat angle, how about some steam out of the mug against that dark wood. |

Boy, if you could have had steam comming out of the cup, I would have given this a 10! As it is, it's still my favorite so far! |

I like the framing and low viewpoint and the inclusion of the winter treescape behind. Very strong, very artistic. I can't see any of the actual coffee, or steam, which makes it harder to get a sense of smell. But I think this image is excellent. |

Nice conception! The background is too narrow tho..
I would like to see more landscape... |

This is a cup and a spoon. |

I really like the perspective from which you took this photograph - the 'size' of the cup and looking 'down' the spoon handle...the b/w emphasizes it even more (to me). Great photo!
[this is my first vote/comment since joining DP --- really like your photo]

Nice idea, long shadows reinforce the 'morning' in the title. |

The wide angled view and outside background on this shot makes it especially good. You did a good job getting the DOF you needed for clarity over the whole image. |

unusual angle on a mug. I like that beautiful tree on the left. you drink your coffee in a great place. Perhaps it is more than the smell of coffee, but also the smell of fesh air? A nice combination - making us think not just of a particular scent but its place in our day. |

Good angle of view. And technically well executed. I miss some early morning atmosphere or the scent of coffee. Warm light would have done a lot, not B&W. |

Good idea, but i think that looking at the coffe could make a stronger sensation of scent. |

The spoon pulls the whole image out of balance, I feel. Use of wideangle is cool, but if you had moved the spoon a little further away, it wouldnt' have appeared so menacing.
Great background (8) |
