What a wonderful concept this piece of photographic art is! Very well constructed image. I love how the angled lines of the walls, the lines of the bars your model is resting on, and especially the lines of the models body (legs and arms) all lead to and emphasize her derierre. The choice of dark black clothing giving her a formless and unappealing shape, along with her distant and disgusted gaze upward give us the first clues as to what this photo is NOT about...it's not about sensuality. The choice of pose is classic for the idea of feminine beauty and along with the distance of her bottom to the toilet seat and paper dispenser alert us to the conflict a woman may undergo seeing herself as beautiful while at the same time having to address her more earthy aspects and possibly the dismay she feels at the thought of telegraphing it through the olfactory sense. As if she wishes she could seperate herself from the act. Well done.

I see the silent morality squadron has rightfully and properly sanctioned such a disgraceful and inappropriate idea.
Great composition and great use of an unusual decor for this type of shot.
I have no idea what your level of French is, so you may yet know this:
âtoiletteâ (singular) always refers to body cleansing;
âtoilettesâ (plural) refers to the room the Americans ârestâ in, and to the actual ceramic contraption as well.

Sorry, but I'm confused by this; clearly, there's a concept, but it's evading me. Is she trying to escape the smell? |

I hope, you did not put the girl there because of smell of feet. What ever, feet are on this picture in the most important place and i like bad jokes - 9 |

It's a really cool shot. I love the angle, but this doesn't convey any scent per se... without the title, I wouldn't have put it under the challenege. 6 for terrific composition. |

What's she doing way up there? Interesting shot, pretty model, but it doesn't make much sense. |

Beautiful girl, in the oddest spot, in an even odder pose.... nice tones |

I like the technical quality of this photo. It is well composed, sharp troughout (wide aperture would probably not help this pose), excellent exposure, good b&w toning.
But I just don't get her pose, too much upper leg area, it makes it look like she has fat upper legs. Perhaps that is true, but I don't consider it very flattering.
Difficult position I guess? :)
Apart from the centre with all that upper leg in it, good photo. 8 |

I have to say this is the most unique one of the bunch. I've been putting it off because I don't know what to say or think. It has an appeal, but it's so unusual. I like the diagonal that the wall forms and the b/w treatment. I guess it's good because it certainly causes one to stop and consider, but instead of thinking about the picture, I'm thinking about the photographer. And the word is why? |

Maybe you should have used "Oh the toilet" and hoped for a phonetic pun. As it is I fail to link the topic and the image. |

A technically accomplished photo with a successfully dynamic composition.
Given the balance of light and dark achieved in this image, the expected contrast is softened wonderfully by an incredible tonal range. I think it could also be considered aesthetically interesting, because of the apparently deliberate association of subjects. The contrast between the feminine form and the stark sterility of the room is boldy emphasized by the artificiality of the models pose and position.
It is the association of feminine form with a toilet, which I consider unfortunate. The title itself lends itself to an interpretation which closely ties the French meaning with an English one. This faux-pas, IMO, could have been avoided by a greater distance between the subject and the focal plane, which, in effect, would have made the bathroom the primary subject.
The title (which, by the way, is rightly rendered in unobtrusive lower case for a minimal and generic reading) could then suggest an absence of scents without the expressed connotations present in this presentation. |

LOL How did you not fall off?
Strange viewpoint and rotation makes this very intriquing and does add interest. It doesn't actually make me think of the smell but it is the kind of quirky concept image I can see hanging in a gallery. |

I like looking at this picture. Kind of an optical illusion that makes me look at it and figure it out. |

I think the angle is too much, it makes the image hard to look at, but good idea. I also don't get the feeling of aroma from such a steril bathroom. |

Top right hand quarter of this shot would make a very nice portrait. As a complete picture it made me smile but it doesn't "please". |

Alternate title "balance" ;) Unusal set up but it really works. I like the way the model is posed. Strange blend of real beauty and a toilet *laugh* Overall great shot. |
