 Another shot from the same session as my Color Portrait 2 entry (her sister). The entire family could be professional models, so the only hard part was choosing.

My typical lighting setup these days... brolly box at front left, large shoot-through umbrella at right rear, and a gold reflector in the right foreground. This is a little contrastier than my norm, and I wish I had Advanced Editing to deal with the background and dark eye.

Processing: Convert from RAW, Levels, Channel Mixer, more Levels, then Channel Mixer conversion to B&W, add slight tone with HSL, USM, Curves, add frame, and slight Noise Ninja.

Awww...that hat adds wonderful interest and texture to this shot and she wears it well! I can see a few things (that you've mentioned) that using advanced editing would help the shot. However, as it is I feel it is still a strong portrait that really conveys some personality of the little girl. I also like that this little girl LOOKS like a little girl - and not some made up model-wannabe. Great job.

With the exception of the fact that the child appears to be wearing lipstick, this is a goreous portrait. A very sweet looking model who looks as though she has bags of character, lovely even lighting that compliments the mood of the photograph perfectly. So far my only 10.

This jumped out at me from the thumbnail. A very nice shot. I think the lighting is a bit harsh but it seems to work well rather than being a problem.

I have it pegged as either Dr Achoo or scalvert. I'm going to go with this being scalverts shot. If I'm wrong then please take that as a compliment.
