Looking across the lake to the Tafe college, with the sun rising behind an awesome sky, there was not a sound and really calm.

No Sharpening tool was used in PP
You can see from the camera settings that high sharpen was used for this shot as it was taken early in the morning, also the flash was on which cast a light on the near forground and close trees, some viewers appear to have thought this was part of the sharpening that was not used in PP, as this was Basic editing NO selective editing was done to darken the clouds, split toning was applied to the whole image in Raw.

Brian, this is really nice! You do great work with water photos! I have a feeling that with just a touch less processig on the house area, this would have gotten you a kick-butt score! But I also think its really pretty just like it is.

It's got nice composition and has the potential to be a beautiful shot, you just overdid it in the post-processing.

Interesting colors captured here. Stranged processing hurts this image. (The grass and the trees appear to be oversharpened and look unnatural.

I like the way the trees frame the picture however they are quite dominating in the scene.

The composition is okay but it could be stronger. I think this compostion is a sort of compromise. Its not really emphasizing any one element. The composition could be changed the to lend emphasis to the sky for instance or to the reflections in the water.

The challenge:
A still reflection certainly is a given for this challenge. The strange processing in the trees give this a harsh feeling however and create a sense of agitation rather than calm. Softer lines would accentuate the feeling you were going for.

This seems overly processed, however it does convey a sense of stillness regardless of the over post processing.

Way to oversharpned IMHO. Also the areas in the trees in the background and the leaves give away the fact the clouds were darkened.
