 I took this as the early morning mist began to rise. I was attracted to the very simple and subdued colour palette of the landscape, and to the curve of the river and the flood bank.

Conversion from RAW (little adjustment from original capture)
Levels to darken the tree and bankside
Shadow Contrast increased plus 10
Highlight Contrast increased plus 4(ish) to brighten the misty areas
USM @ 64%, 54, 0
Resize and save for web.

I love how when I visit this image I find myself stopping at the tree, then quite naturally I want to wander on down the path (your curved leading line). Once I've wandered a bit I discover that I really want to hang out and spend more time at the tree - It's the only place I can find company in this journey.

Great job of putting this comp together and utilizing the elements.
