I think the only thing that hurt you here was the strange texture of the skin, like you over-used neat image or something. I would LOVE to see how this looks without that one flaw. Unfortunately it's so pervasive and distracting that it otherwise ruined it. I didn't vote, but in answer to Sandy's question: I believe they were thinking just that. "Dammit, killed a great picture."
The yellow thing in the middle has meaning to you, but it's not obvious enough to most people (confirmed by other commenters) to really work. At first glance it completes the the composition, then it becomes a distraction because of confusion.

Oh man!!! What a great photo! What were they thinking 5.6!!! That's a travesty for a photo this cool!

| Good idea. Refreshing break from looking at 100 photos of links of chain. Something in postprocessing gives the fingers & nails an airbrush look. -7 |

| Nice image, lovely colours. Could be a bit sharper - looks like it went blurry because of noise reduction, but I could be wrong. What is the little yellow chicken looking thing in the middle? |

| Do they need to wash their hands? Sort of half joking here, not fond of this type of processing at all. Would be a bit better if all the hands were in focus. Idea is good and creative. |

whats that in the middle? that might cost you a ribbon.. that and the blurring at the bottom of the shot.7
2nd pass, leaving at a 7 as that `thing` in the middle doesnt do it any favours and the blurry hand at the bottom could of been avoided. |
