 New baby elephant, Jade, was born in December at the St. Louis Zoo. She was very energetic. DPCers were looking for her, found an open fence with no sign of the baby. Everyone about walked off to find her...when she came running up (mom close behind). We all had prime spots against the fence for taking pictures!

I took one shot...then nothing...I looked down, a crowd now forming around us to see the baby...DEAD BATTERY...find the spare, remove hand-grip attachment that blocks battery access, replace battery...crowd is very thick now...FINALLY resume shooting.

Several "paparazzi" comments where made about the group of us at the front of the crowd, clicking away!

DPC Paparazzi on the scene! I didnt hear that comment but my wife told me about it later, I laughed so hard, because looking back on the scene thats about what it was like.

She is a cutie! My mom clipped Jade's picture out of the Post Dispatch and sent it to me.
