Hi there from the Critique Club
While 6 is a strong and very respectable score, I think this one is much stronger than a 6.0. Technically and compositionally, you achieved a terrific capture here. I absolutely love you depth of field use, and I think that it is the main strength of the image. This is not to say that other areas of the image are lacking, though. The color is wonderful, and the bokeh-esque green background does a great job setting off the brilliant yellow of the subject. The focus is very nice, especially the very crisp droplets on the flower. I believe that your scored suffered from commonality and nothing else. The image is strong, but many voters simply tire of flowers. While flowers are not one of my pet peeves, I can relate to the voters. I tire of house cats, woodies and any shot that has the aurora borealis in it. Often shots of common subjects lose points no matter the strength of the image. I believe that happened to this one. 15 votes of 4 or less says it all. Great image and a terrific addition to your front page.
Thanks for the opportunity to critique your entry,
