You are indeed an artist and this is an excellent example of impressionistic digital imagery. It appears to be a lensbaby shot although I'm no expert, I think you achieved the effect very well, with or without.
Addendum: Brad, I wish you would share with us the technical aspects of your PP so people can better understand what was involved in achieveing this effect.

Brad, destructive is the word, hahahahaha! Don't you already know the Tribe, they sharpen their teeth for pics like this, hisss at the moon, dance in the sun an'then... an'then hit the 1 button. But yes it looks like the same variety of flutter-by. |

This is a great shot and I can't imagine why you would apply a blurring effect to it. The colors jump out of the sreen, the composition is great. I don't understand. The blurring of the surroundings don't bother me as much as the blur on the butterfly. With basic editing, I understand you could not do differently but still... WHY? |

This is a very interesting picture, I wonder how you could get that effect, but I don't think that the out of focus of what should have been the center of attention (the buttefly) is working well |

I am sure it is close to impossible to capture a live butterfly such as you did. Unfortunatly, it is a bit blurry and out of focus. The background is very distracting. Nice try though - keep it up. |

I'm sorry but did you shoot this out of focus or did you add the effect later. Either way it doesn't really work. I want to see the butterfly but can't. |

Love the colour, but I'm not sure of the intermittent blurriness works. |

Picture is out of focus, so it is hard to see the symmetry in the wings. |
