I took this while on vacation in San Francisco. I actually think I liked the Bay Bridge better than the Golden Gate. This was shot with a 17-40, with a polarizer. The shot was pretty flat, so I turned most of the greys to blues and added the vignette...

Greetings fro the Critique Club -

I will begin with saying that you rimage looks pretty cool in thumbnail. Good line and intersting blues. But upon seeing it as the larger image it does seem a bit flat. The colors are good but I would like to see it more dynamic.

I also think the vignetting is a little heavy on the bottom. I would have liked to have seen the posts in the water a bit more.

Not really a whole lot else I can comment on. Its a straightforward image, nothing too exciting but nothing really bad about it. High 5 in a Free Study isnt really anything major to complain about with an image like this.

You have some really nice work in yoru portfolio. Keep that up and I look forward to seeing your future entries.

I like the ethereal blue. But I don't much like the foreground vignette. I'd have been more inclined to crop the photo or add a heavy bottom border to get rid of that space.

i see an ok bridge shot with a couple of poles sticking out of he water, in which i have no connection with.
it's kind of boring, but boring is not always bad. if it is boring play on it make it look as boring as possibe, i think adding the vignette tries to mask its "boringness" therefore hiding its beauty.

You have your fore-, middle- and background going. A cliche bridge shot. Water looks unnatural, somehow.

My reaction to this while voting was non-reaction. I gave it a 5. I think your description sums it up well. It is a not very exciting composition prettied up with color and obscured with a vignette. I almost never like vignetting, because it is so often used to attempt to compensate for a composition that's not doing the job.

But you scored a point and a half higher than I did in this challenge, so no worries. :)

Great color and mood, fantastic vignette. It looks almost threatening, which is a very different take on the bridge than one usually sees.
