The thought process behind this image is excellent and also the way it was pit together..... Very clever indeed.....
I really like this composition very much and I think it does tell a story..... well done.
The cliud formation is awesome, and the symbols just add a magic touch to the image.....

what? this didn't get DQ'd? just kidding :p
i thought that was ancient symbolism too. this is different and i do not know what my reaction would have been in the challenge - i didn't vote so i didn't look! but, well, i guess i have an idea now of what to do with some toothpics lol. Anyway, this is very creative - I would never have thought to put this all together in one pic. |

Heh, I like the creations in the sky. For whatever reason, it makes me think of Oddysey 2001 and big black monolyths (no, I don't really understand why either...). The plane doesn't quite fit into the picture somehow, I agree with krnodil's comment.
Oh, and I beat you - my Free Study entry sucks more than yours :p

I thought "Close Encounters" when I first saw it, the symbols on the left looking like some sort of alien hieroglyphics. Did not know about the Wright Flyer three-view before - I like how you tried to approximate a bird with the three-view and the dramatic sky gives the whole image a portentous quality.
It would be interesting to see another try at this shot without the plane, and with the three views placed randomly across the whole expanse of the sky (well, it might be *visually* interesting, but conceptually not so much - since I guess the inclusion of the plane was necessary for the Wright brothers connection). Nevermind, I'm babbling about possibilities again. :) |

I like how all the elements work in the frame. I like how the lighting/coloring is even with all the elements you combined. I would not have known it was the Wright Flyer on the left without the title (I thought it was some sort of ancient symbolism). A nice use of the expert rules. |

Don, this is a fantastic shot. I'm not sure about the symbols. I guess I just don't get it. The clouds and the airplane are great. This should have scored much higher. |

I really like it - I gave you a good score. So very odd, though maybe a peyote button or agave in the foreground would have added that extra touch (I'm just kidding). Plus the best - we actually get to see what the mysterious Skewsme a 'la Colleen looks like! |

Hmm. I like the 3-view and the juxtaposition with the modern airplane very much (I'm a private pilot). I'm not sure how skewsme fits in. I wonder if it'd work better with symbolic people, too, like skewsme under the 3-view and a stick figure under the modern plane?
Either way, this is a composition that would benefit greatly from hanging on a wall with a plaque next to it. DPC just isn't set up for deep contemplation and reflection on challenge entries. |

Not sure I understand what you were going for here. I assume the symbol in the sky represents something. I hope you have a description to be read after the contest is over. |

um, there's stuff in the sky on the left - no idea what that is but it looks like it's been added after the photo was taken - |
