This is the cafe I frequent when I need to get out of the house to study. Today I was meeting with my Statistics group to put the finishing touches on our final project.

Sent to CS2 in color
cropped
converted with channel mixer
tone mapped
shadow/highlight
dodge & burn on waiter and fliers
despeckle
smart sharpen
layer mask to add vignetting to spotlight waiter
color balance: highlights yellow (slight)

I did not not blur or selectively sharpen anything - the waiter very curiously turned out to be the most in-focus element of the scene. :-)

No, there was no tripod, totally handheld. I wasn't really planning to take the shot. It just occurred to me on the sidewalk as I was walking toward the cafe to meet my group.

It looks like a fun place to hang out. You did good at capturing candid energy in its normal course. I like it!

Like this candid, a lot to see and pleasing to the eye, great job.

Interesting street shot. I think a little more in focus would be nicer. I really like th amount of lighting here (though I'm sure that made it harder for more in focus without a fast lens). The lighting really sets a good mood for this.

I'm wondering if this was hand held? I like the movement of the waiter and man standing, but think a more steady focus on the sitting diners could have stengthened the image.

I really like B&W for candid street shots, they are always interesting. Looks like pretty challenging lighting and you did a good job.

I like the one backlit waiter. The signs on the pole add a nice touch as well. I like candid city type shots that involve a mixture of people and architecture.

I really like this candid shot. Having the waiter in focus is ideal. The glow from the sun behind the waiter makes him stand out more. Nicely done.
