This was taken yesterday while my kids and I toured the Mayflower II in Plymouth.

Since this is a side challenge I figured I'd try something different for the editing. Since this is more of a silhouette type of shot I took the midtone contrast all the way to -100 to bring out more of the clouds.

love the patterns and lines. i think because the background is simple that means that to me, this does not come across as a busy pic. the lines are just a natural part of your subject.

i like a lot how busy this shot looks. very cool composition. and very good bw conversion as well, the tones in the sky look great.

A complex but interesting shot for me; I like the choice to darken the sky, and don't think it takes too much from the rigging and it makes the shot more dramatic (I still see quite a bit of detail in the rigging).

Love the subject. I think the riggins would stand out more if the clouds weren't so dark and if you had more tones in the riggings.

Like the dark lines against the sky, but image is too busy to focus on any one aspect. I have tried rigging shots and I have looked at many and though they are a unique aspect of our culture, I haven't liked too many of the shots I have seen. I guess the way I like it best is with ice hanging off the lines with really gusty winds.

Wow - this makes me appreciate how complex these rigging systems really are. Must have been a fun tour. This works quite well as a silhouette, though it would also be interesting with details in the rigging.

I really like this. The lines are busy -- but in a good way because the composition is so interesting. What a great sky too!

I love ships! So automatically this is a winner with me. However, the crop is awesome, I like the way the masts and ropes almost fill the frame. And you did a wonderful job with the clouds. Very dynamic.
