I processed this in "ACDSee Pro", a viewer that I often use to play with images before I bring them into CS2 (it lets you try out levels, b&w, etc. really quickly). I couldn't get the same result in CS2. There must be a way, but I couldn't find it.

So, in ACDSee, some level adjustments in RAW editing, then desat, and shadow/highlights adjustment. Then to tiff, and finished it off with a little more shadows/highlights in CS2 before adding the border and saving for web.

In the end, it's dark, but I intended that. Too dark? I'll leave that to all of you . . .

Foreboding element to this shot, I think it's very effective. Before reading your comment, I actually took it to be train tracks that lead to nowhere.

I love the intensity this has. Mostly dark tones with a touch of stark white here and there. Great leading line. Nicely done.

no no I love the dark tones. Your crop makes this look like the bridge to nowhere. And the sky opening up where it is - that's almost perfect alignment. Just love this moody shot.

Not too dark - the final effect is quite harsh and it suits this. The only bit I'd tweak if it were me is the blown bits just below the trees on the horizon.

This immediately made me think of concentration camps - the famous photo of the tracks leading into Auschwitz. I suspect the reason is that the photo is so deliberatly dark. It is very well done. The contrast is excellent and the emotive is penetrating and captivating.

Lovely drama, and the contrasty feeling works well.

I don't think it's too dark at all! The darkness really adds to the feel and message behind this shot. Nicely done! I really like it!

very funky processing - i like it. it is dark but it would be rather static and a little boring without the contrast and darkness that you have brought here

nice perspective and composition and nice clouds, looks a bit too sharp especially around the trees, tho.

Very dark and dramatic. This looks almost like railway tracks and then I have to think, why do they not go anywhere? Very interesting.

Ok. I am NOT crossing over that bridge! What a great find. And I love the darkness in this image.

Not too dark really.. It's moody, and I like that. However, I think your shadows/highlights work was a little too strong in this case. Seems to have a "rubbery" appearance to me.
