Great shot - Well seen - It's very easy for our eyes to adjust and miss such common things as shadows. Really lovely picture. Wonderful richness to it too. |

This is cool. In a couple of places the shadows look like people. Very mysterious! Love the sky. |

Looks like a cool place. Love the shadows (btw there's a guy standing behind the rock on the left...probably not but it looks like there is) |

Have not been to Joshua Tree National Park in a looooooonnnnnngggg time so this is a nice little visual treat. What I really love about this B&W is that shadow that falls on the rocks - the dark shadow cast on the lighter colored rock is such a dramatic contrast. It pulls the eye right in. Great perspective of 'showing' us some of the plantlife in this composition. Although the actual cactus plant is absent from the photo we still see it because of that dramatically cast shadow upon the rocks. |

Whoa!!!!! Excellent shadow play here, we know we're looking at Joshua Tree National Park even without seeing any Joshua Trees! Love those shadows on the rocks. And the dark shadow on the upper rocks looks like the profile of a man and there's a 'rabbit' to the bottom left. Great job! |

Oh I do love this one. It's a very cool place to go and this is a great shot to show it off. Lovely rich deep tones, especially the sky. The composition is very good with the curve of the rocks. And of course an excellent use of shadow! |

What an awesome photograph of such an interesting place. The Joshua Tree shadow really makes this photo interesting. My favorite part though is the graduated dark sky. I love skies like that. I also like the sepia toning on this shot. The weak side? Probably the low contrast in the rocks. Try a separate curves adjustment layer or two with everything masked out except for the rocks to bring out the contrast and detail a little more perhaps. |

I love shadows; In my opinion shadows make image three dimensional, especially B&W |
