 This was just stupid luck. I was shooting a band in my studio on monday night, not having a clue what the challenge topic was. They found the prop-closet, and while I was changing memory cards they changed from a badass rock band into an 80s Hair Band.

Oddly this spawned the idea of them also forming an 80s rock band that will open for themselves at their own concerts. The revival tour starts this summer.

Ridiculously cool guys, several cases of Heineken, and several hundred photos later, this is what we came up with. the challenge was just a bonus. I have no idea how it will be received, but I can't look at it without laughing, so it's in :)

Just heard about the DPL challenge now, looking back through these and this is GOLD!
These guys are awesome for coming up with the idea to setup with the props like this and have huge cajones for letting you have creative rights to the image of them doing this.

I can't help but grin like an idiot when i see this, and i've got some Steel Panther songs running through my head now just by seeing this.

oh for sure he has tried on everything in that closet when no one is around. probably more than once. i bet he cooks his dinner in the nikki sixx pants...sneak over and peak in the window for me. i'm sure i'm right. :)

Well duh. But the title needed to be DPL not EHMPL. And yes, I had all those props in the closet. Blame Roz.

You know he secretly visits the prop closet to try everything I bring over on.. including the stretchy white long dress... ;) Although I've begged to see the "nikki sixx" pants on him..but so far nada..he simply refuses ;)

i really like this shot and layout, BUT death metal is not 80's hair metal! you just can't compare cannibal corpse to, say, motley crue.

but i'm really more interested in the props. are you saying that you had those 'nikki sixx' red striped pants in your props closet? hilarious! and weird.

Odd... some of these guys remind me of the guys I dated back in the 80's.. right down to the clothes and hair.. *blink*

Winx.. excellent work P I cant help but feel somewhere deep down you are in touch with your 80's hairband inner love.. I mean how else could you have re-captured the spirit so perfectly :P

The technicals are great but for me I would have preferred to see more edginess both in the concept and in the look and feel if this was going to be a real album cover. Although for DPC this spoof on heavy metal is probably the ticket to a higher score. Either way early congrats on your ribbon.

Great entry - strong photograph that I could see on an album (these guys are too much!), text compliments the shot (the bottom text seems a bit too close to the bottom), DPL acronym makes fairly good sense as a 3-word band, roughly square, One of my favorites this challenge
