Magnolia blossom in Charleston. A bit tricky to access, as these are just starting to bloom and generally quite high in the trees still. I was lucky to find a decent one within shooting range. I had to shoot relatively fast due to breeze.
-Crop nearly 50%
-Rotated to angle stamen
-Much adjustment with curves, channel mixer hue/saturation
-More adjustment with the above
-Adjustment to brightness and contrast
-Added border

I definitely see the silky softness here. Wonderful composition. Seems a slight blue tint, not sure if that was intentional, but it doesn't take away from the image. Terrific detail in the stamens. Magnolias are such wonderful trees and you did a superb job.

Beautiful floral shot. I love the way it just fills the frame. The non centered composition really strengthens this shot. Sherpet will be proud.

Congrats on top 20! Great focus on them curlicues! And these petals are truly silky to the touch. The gentle lavender shadows in this image help to convey their softness. Nice work!

See now I'd have thought you picked this and shot it indoors in a controlled setting - great work all around, and congrats on a new top row shot!

Good DOF, rule of 1/3rds but white is over powering for me maybe a different crop on the bud-6

this is a very strong image, but I think the yellow frame takes away from it - it competes with the image a bit too much. black or no frame at all and it might work a bit better. awesome shot though.
