The beer I used to usually drink. Used to, because they have stopped making it locally (Heineken has not renewed SAB's contract). Figured I should immortalise it in a photo while I still have some left.

Read somewhere that beer adverts have the beer centred to keep your eye on it. The beer looks a bit tilted, but I don't like to crop, so it stays.

Lighting: A flash (with cardboard snoot) about 90 degrees camera left firing past the bottle into a reflector 90 degrees camera right (direct flash much too hard, and impossible to control properly for lighting glass). A home-made flash (balanced precariously on the snoot of the first flash) with a cardboard gobo to light up the table on front of the bottle. The second flash was triggered by PC cord (using a DIY safe-sync circuit so it doesn't blow my camera), which triggered the first flash optically. I still need a lot more experience when it comes to lighting glass. I am not 100% satisfied with this shot, but it is better than my first (more adventurous) lighting attempt today (which I completely screwed up). Not happy about the bright stripe going down the label.

Post processing: RAW. Cloned out a few small spots here and there. Black and white conversion, channel mixer with 50% green and 50% blue. Levels to set the grey point. Curves for more contrast.

This is well done and looks dramatic in black and white.....
