Sky was pretty washed out in the original; selected the light for a new layer, then did extreme curves and levels for the sky. A bit of blur to bring the overlaid light into better synch, and then a bit of sharpening on the light. Had to neatimage to get rid of some noise created by teh extreme curve. Flatten, levels, resize, border, save for web.

Nice contrasts, and I like the angle you chose - it's not a dead-on side perspective.

Wow! You sure did good turning a washed out sky into something dramatic and beautiful.

The curvy line of the lamp makes this really pop. I really like this!

Unusual capture, but it works a treat for me, as even though it is a simple lamp post, it has a lot of appeal in shape and form.....
The sky background just finishes it off nicely.....

wow rob .. excellent image . .. love the shapes and curves in this image .. notice your process steps ... you didnt mention adjustment layers?? .. they are excellent .. much better to use for curves and levels etc than creating a new layer .. you can paint in the adjustment layer with the brush tool in black to erase the effect and paint with white to get it back .. you can adjust both the size of your brush and its opacity to create more subtle adjustments and you can then change the actual adjustment layer's opacity .. its a much better way, than doing it all on a new layer ..
and of course you may already know all that .. in which case you can tell me to go take a hike!!!!:) ..
i'm getting new lens .. a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro ... i have to wait 14 days for delivery .. its gonna be the longest 14 days of my life!!!! .. :)

Great composition on this shot with spot on rule of third application

For me your tones are just right with outstanding black blacks

A very good example of an everyday object being made beautiful
