Thanks to everyone who voted for my photograph especially those who commented. This was my first submission. For those who wanted a symmetrical arrangement, I actually had that ... I will post it in my portfolio later.

I have a personal fondness for this kind of shot and you have done it well...it might have been interesting to crop it so that the orchid was symmetrical or to move it for the right hand third...

Nice framing, beautiful colors against white. Not as sharp as I'd like to see it.

Wonderful. Would have loved to see more light on the color areas to make the colors "pop". Quite a lovely shot though.

I like the off center framing. I think it would have been more interesting had the center of the flower been at a slight angle rather than strait on.

Very very pretty. I might have centered the image, but it's very nice none the less.

Technical: fits the challenge. Exposure composition focus lighting all very good, I love the placement of the center of the flower in the frame.

Personal: The only complaint I have is cutting off the bottom curve of the petal- it stops the eye from following that very gracegful line. In all other respects a very lovely photo!

My vote: 8

This is the sort of picture that I think really benefits for a symmetrical composition, so I find your choice of an asymmetrical composition quite interesting. I would also have preferred to see the entire bud in the depth of field and in good focus. Your picture is also a little bit too noisy.

You have got very nice and close to the flower however, and I am aware of how difficult it is to attain good focus and depth of field from such a vantage point.

Your picture would also benefit from being rotated clockwise a few degrees to level off the bottom of the petals and the top of the bud.

You have however attained a very lovely silky smooth white background with the petals, and that really does add to the shot.

Good luck.
