I was sitting in front of the Eiffel tower when I saw these two kissing. After the shot I asked them if it was all right if I would use the picture for this challenge. They didn't mind.

nice sihouette! Was this posed? :)
09/08/2002 10:50:00 PM
this is a great idea but your sillhouette is too hidden. I almost missed it and just gave you a 1.
09/08/2002 09:46:00 PM
i bet this isn't candid, what are the odds of stumbling upon this and getting perfect DOF and focus, but i still LOVE it
09/08/2002 09:10:00 PM
Wonderfully romantic photo. The composition and background are great.
09/08/2002 02:32:00 PM
good idea but it's too dark to see anything, it doesn't work as a sillouhette.
09/06/2002 01:20:00 PM
wow.
09/06/2002 10:55:00 AM
This is subtle and beautiful. It's probably one of the most cliched photographs imaginable, but I like the way you executed it, with the subjects in silhouette against the softly focussed tower.
09/06/2002 08:39:00 AM
Far too posed, whether it was actually posed or not ir irrelevant, it just doesnt feel natural.
09/06/2002 12:40:00 AM
Top points for this one, posed or candid. Nicely done!
09/05/2002 10:42:00 PM
this is a gr8 shot
09/05/2002 09:51:00 PM
The silhouettes really don't show up well enough on a mainly dark background.
09/05/2002 08:16:00 PM
love !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! al finnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
godddddddd yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh a pic who mean something else congrats I love it, u got 10
09/05/2002 05:20:00 PM
Nice idea, but I think your silhouettes get lost in the rest of the darkness. Otherwise, I love the shot. (I bet a lot of people think this is posed...)

Beautiful. 8 -lennier

nicely done.

If you're doing silouettes, to me, the background image should be in focus.
09/04/2002 06:18:00 PM
Nice shot. Great exposure on the tower to put the couple into shillouette. Good job of "romantically" capturing the moment.

I can hardly see the subjects, and the tower is blurry. Too bad - had it worked out, this would have been a really nice shot.
09/04/2002 02:28:00 PM
You either staged this, or you are one lucky son of a gun. I wll assume the later. Beautiful shot. Would make an excellent postcard, I think. Great job. karmat

this is a little too perfect. :) great shot. 9 goodtimecharlee
09/03/2002 08:01:00 PM
interesting.
09/03/2002 03:53:00 PM
This is a great find, but there just isn't enough contrast to make the couple stand out.
09/03/2002 03:30:00 PM
This was a nice effort. It really needs some more contrast in the couple. 8
09/03/2002 03:12:00 PM
this one is classic...nice job
09/03/2002 12:44:00 PM
What a beautiful shot! Some may say that it would have been better to have a smaller arpeture and have the tower in focus...but I like this shot just the way it is. Good job!
09/03/2002 10:27:00 AM
nice catch!
09/03/2002 09:39:00 AM
emotive. nice framing.
09/03/2002 05:27:00 AM
Do i miss the kisses?
09/03/2002 05:04:00 AM
Great idea, great shot (8)

09/02/2002 11:46:00 PM
I like the idea here, but the silhouette needs to be a little better defined to be more effective. 5 Gracious
09/02/2002 10:24:00 PM
mood captured - totally romantic (paris, her with long hair, etc)
sincerity of expressions - can't see the faces, but the posture looks sincere
09/02/2002 08:24:00 PM
Too dark, can barely see the people kissing, tower not clear,
09/02/2002 02:51:00 PM
nice shot, but was it really a candid shot????
09/02/2002 02:39:00 PM
This just seems too perfect to fit under the candid category even if it wasn't staged. The DOF is great. Expsoure is good. Focus is good. The couple is centered and shot straight on. Mind telling me exactly how you managed to catch such a great shot? ~indigo997
09/02/2002 01:25:00 PM
this is interesting, something about the blurring of the tower bothers me, and the way it takes my attention away from the subject, the first time i looked at it, i didnt see the couple....6

This is a neat shot :) I think a very minor rotation to the left to straighten up the tower would have been nice also... great idea :) - jmsetzler
09/02/2002 10:54:00 AM
wow. good idea. I like the composition.
09/02/2002 10:41:00 AM
Great idea, but the execution -- even in a candid shot -- leaves much to be desired. 3 Jak
09/02/2002 04:56:00 AM
I love Paris
09/02/2002 04:56:00 AM
Taking pictures like this is illegal isn't it?!! Maybe the shot would have better if the tower was in focus, I don't think there's enough detail in the silhouettes for the lack of focus to have mattered.
09/02/2002 02:38:00 AM
probably posed, good picture anyhow
09/02/2002 01:29:00 AM
This would have been great had the couple been a little more distinguished from the background. It takes a bit of effort to recognize that this is more than a blurry photo of the Eiffel Tower. Since their position isn't against something that gives enough contrast to make them out very well, it may have been cool to try a shot with a flash and a slower exposure to bring out a similar effect with the tower in the background while offering details of the couple.
09/02/2002 12:40:00 AM
Looks posed, not very candid. Great photo though.
09/02/2002 12:23:00 AM
Everybody's gonna complain that it's too dark, as they usually do. But it's very well done. If you'd gotten a lower angle of the couple, I would've given you a 10.
