 This was from a lucky shoot. The sun was just setting and shining it's golden light on this pelican who was letting me get sooo close with my 70-200 lens. I was amazed how sharp the photos were without a tripod. It's the same day and the same pelican as this one.
I think I like this guy in color better and I tried to convert 2 different photos tonight with no luck. On this I adjusted the contrast and darkened the background a bit before converting to black and white. Could have done more, but I need to get to sleep. Zzzzz...

I agree, I like the color better. Having said that ... I think you did a great job with the PP in BW. The texture just pops.

Wow! He has attitude! Excellent processing on this. I just love pelican shots. I've never seen one in real life, if I ever do I hope to get photos half as good as yours.

Wow! What a GREAT photo, Robin! You don't often get to see pelicans hunkered down in the grass like this. Then to get one looking straight on at you like this. This is amazing -- and yes -- a very lucky capture. Well. . .maybe not so lucky. . .I'll say a SKILLED capture :)

OMG he looks absolutely handsome in B/W. I mean just look at the contrast in the in the feathers, they just pop. I love how the pelican is looking right at you. Great shot.
