so a lot of people commented on the amount of grain in the photo and wanted an explanation, so here it goes:
i shot the photo and didn't have time to set my 1.3MP camera to the correct size... oops! got home, resized, fixed levels, and ended up with lines... i still liked the photo, it reminded me of the grain in newspaper photos, and decided to submit it.
thanks to all of you that gave me feedback, it is greatly appreciated!

Good use of B&W... doesn't strike me as the most interesting shot... but still good. |

Nice portrait shot. B+W, the tables, and the glass tiles above gives a feeling of vintage. |

I like how the subject fills the frame, adn I like the feeling or mood bw gives this. It seems a bit grainy to me, but not in a distracting way, sort of adds to the mood. karmat |

If you were going for huge amounts of grain, you got it. This seems puzzling to me. The hard edges are fairly clear, but the grain is heavy handed. Did you apply bespeckle to this? I am sorry, but the best I can go is 5. Swash |

very grainy, do all of your color adjustments prior to cropping. |

This is a really nice candid... I like the vantage point. This image has a strange sort of grain to it... maybe it was shot through a window or something? It almost looks like that but i'm not sure.. I would love to hear how this one was done... - jmsetzler |

What are the lines running thru this photo? Did you add a texture you shouldn't have, or is it distortion from something? |

I like this shot a lot. it seems a little 'faded out' or out of focus though. |

Yes, its candid. I'd like it better seeing more of what's immediately around your subject. 5 sjgleah |
