 My wife and I were headed to a mountain in the souther part of Korea to go hiking. While reading the atlas she saw that there was a waterfall not far from where we were heading. We detoured to find the waterfall and stumbled upon this Buddhist temple. The temple was very generous to let us go inside and on top to take photos.

I shot this image but knew the sky would be pain. We had gloomy grey skies all day so I had to use some channel mixing layers and layer masks to get the sky back to a bluish tone. I started the editing by using Photomatix's Tone Mapping filter for the image, then follwoed with levels and saturation adjustments and the channel mixing. I cloned the edges of the trees to clean up the seams and also did some burning to get rid of the grey cast that was over some of the trees. I then resized and sharpend and then saved for web.

The name translates to "the day when Buddha arrived", in Korea this day was celebrated on the 24th of May. The lanterns in the photo are strewn all around the country in celebration of Buddha's birthday.

Wonderfully crisp detail and exploding color. I like the angle of your image and the pink in the sky is a nice touch that goes unnoticed! Great photo.

I normally don't care for pics of statues and such, but this shot appears thought out, and is well executed and composed. An interesting perspective, and great colors.
