I think perhaps if you'd got a polarising filter or something like that, then the reflections from the pond wouldn't be so strong and you'd be able to see the fish more. Nice try though :-)

Interesting idea; wonder what it would have looked like with a polarizing lens so I could see the fishies more clearly.

A polarising filter would have reduced the reflection on the water so that the "fishies" would be more visible.
