 Placed the glass dish directly on the flash unit. Then used studio lighting to get the light on the nuts. used the flash on my camera to set off the slave to light up the glass dish.

Editing:
Burnt the background out
lighting and colour
levels

I like everything about this except the centered composition with the normal perspective to the image; I don't mind it centered, but then I think I would prefer a square crop. The black bands at the side just don't do anything for me. That said, as everyone else has said, colors and the interaction of the dish with the nuts is wonderful; a really nice shot!

SOOOOOOOOO Art Deco! I love the dish. Are you able to get closer with your camera? Seeing the nuts thru the glass might make a good macro. The anal-retentive portion of my mind wants to see this rotated counterclockwise a few degrees.

They look yummy!! I really like the contrast of the black b/g and glass dish.

I think I'd try slight curves and sharpening only on the nuts, it would add that bit of needed sharpening and give the colour a lift.

I like the totally black background and the reflection in the silver/chrome. Good lighting and POV. It seems to me it may be lacking some sharpness.

Hmmmm, now salty nuts sounds like a good snack. I like your shot. The coloring is perfect and the texture really works well.
