 these kids were playing in the wave pool after a big storm... it looks a lot more dangerous than it was
using my lens at 200mm makes the waves look closer than they were
the girl in the back ground is half way across the pool, so the fence is well in the background and she is divining on top of a wave and you can see they lose a lot of their power by the time they reach the pool

Absolutely an amazing shot here to capture this as it is poetry in motion thats for sure.....

Very exciting, engaging shot! Please put the story in the details. What were the kids doing out there in the first place? Did the girl hang on? Was this an unusually high tide or storm surge or something?

What a decisive moment here! Your timing of this couldn't be better.
I am having a bit of a struggle accepting this as a true candid, as it really is more about the moment, than the people.
Congrats on a top making top 20 on this - it's one heck of a photograph!

WOW keith ... i just love your processing .. this is truly stunning .. the colours, the depth, the way the girl is reaching out for the chain, (she looks like she's just about to get eaten up by that wave), the boy running .. everything in this image works to perfection ... this photograph really tells a story, an exciting one ... fantastic .. :):)

Lovely action filled image. The difference in the waves and elements of the sea seem almost surreal, nicely executed and the girl running along the beach really adds something in terms of the challenge task itself
