This young gentleman was accompanying his parent at the Cornell reunion. I snapped a few of him trying to find his way on this map, and this was the one I liked the most. My lens is cheap, so this is not as sharp as I would have liked. Having the centerline of the road pass through his head was not a concious decision, but I actually like it (although I am sure many will not). I think it keeps with the theme of this image.

Crop.
Levels.
Convert to BW.
Selected background and applied a mild Gaussian Blur.
Applied USM to his face, body, and map.
Selected face and applied another mild Gaussian Blur. I then erased areas where I wanted to keep sharpness (hair, eyes, nose, and mouth).
Flatten.
Resize.
Border.

What a great capture! My brother went to Cornell and met his wife there. It's a great path to choose :-) This is a very nice capture and suites B&W well. 9

Beautiful capture. What a symbolic shot you've managed to get. Chosing the immediate path, and looking at the longterm future. Love it.

Hilarious. It seems a touch "grainy" perhaps from post processing, but it gives the effect of the little boy being just a touch out of focus

Maps can be so darn confusing and if he thinks thats bad wait till he tries to refold it. Niice candid shot although may have been even nicer if the dof had hit the boy rather than the map

Still a good image though

Nice but pushed too far in processing. The editing shows.

I really like this, skinny legs and all.
Looks like he is really trying to figure out the best way through the maze.
