I know, I know, I have done it before :) Was a last minute shot and actually extatic about the rollover delay, this is shot the 13th of June, didn´t have time for anything else today. If it hadn´t been for the delay I would have submitted a shot of the same soda can in a stream, that shot pretty much royally sucked.
As usual, lit with two flashes, a 580ex and 550ex. One on the left/behind the soda can pointed upwards at the cealing, bouncing mostly of it back and the other one to the right/front of the soda can, also bouncing most of the light up at the white cealing. Henny held the can and shower head, tied a seethrough string to the can to hold it up, you can see it if you look for it, it´s right above the "M" in "Magic".
As for processing, first raw conversion where I did most of the work. The backround was too cyan for my taste so I used selective color adjustment to get the cyan parts more blue and darker to make the droplets stand out more. Then tweaked the image just a little with color balance, again to get the whole shot just a little bit more blue and a smidge of magenta over the cyan hue. Lastly, I sharpened after resizing and added the black frame. |

Done with that masterful technique to whet the thirst. Congratulations on your top 20 finish. |

of course something with actual professional commercial value wouldn't score as well as it deserves. Heaven forbid we learn to make money with our cameras, or reward those that show us the way on DPC! :)
Love this, and sincerely appreciate you taking time to explain how you did it. I'll be setting this up in studio to try myself in the next week or so.
Thanks for your contributions to this site. |

I don't think the nice deep tones of the can matches the bright blue background very well. |
