 OK, so this photo really was blowing bubbles. ;-)

I took a shot of my daughter blowing on "nothing" (the most difficult part), and printed it out for the frame. I carefully cut a hole in the mouth and frame back (no glass), and darkened the edges of the paper with a marker. Then I attached a vinyl tube to the back with duct tape. The bubble wand is glued to an empty bottle. For each shot, I dipped the wand in bubble solution and blew through the tube while using a cable release to trigger the camera. It worked surprisingly well.

I seriously rushed the shot (started shooting at 11:30pm) and just BARELY made the deadline... or so I thought. I sat looking at it for over an hour and no rollover. Hmpf. I went to clean up my mess, but decided to try another series because I wasn't happy with the rushed version. Around 1:30am, I got this one. As luck would have it, Langdon extended the rollover for 24 hours and I was able to submit this version! ;-D

I'm always trying to tweak a little more out of a shot though, so I set it up again the next evening and got this-


I liked the alignment of the mouth better and thought the new title might help communicate transitions, but I just missed the extended deadline. Doh!

BTW- this shot was scoring 5.4 after the first 8 or so votes and gradually improved over the week. Quite a change!

Nice to see you use your hot air to good use. Btw, how do you dip the bubble wand for each shot if it's glued to the bottle? Also, why are you even using glue in the first place? I thought photographers are suppose to use only gaffer tape?

Oh and congrats on your fifth place finish. If you keep "blowing" these chances at a ribbon Jorge will surely pass you.

darn it scalvert I thought I found you already and left you a snarky message, but this picture actually has a sense of fun even it doesn't have any impact beyond that. The girl's intense expression makes this shot. 6

I can't wait to see the setup on this one! Nice colour graduation on the face. It would be nicer if the photo stand was totally hidden.
