I would have liked to have more time for this one...I thought of it at 11:00 the night before the challenge ended. My parents weren't patient enough to lend a hand, something about working the next day. I finally convinced my sister to be the hand in front of the goal. I would have liked to have had a hand on the handle in the foreground, but i had to move the puck (via a string). As it is, I had about 6 shots at this and I'm moderately happy with this one.
Adjustments: Color is straight from the camera (there are 2 blacklights above the air hockey table, manual white balance produced the "glow" of the puck). Rotated 1 degree CW, cropped, shirt in background darkened, various selective contrast editing to get a more uniform dark color surrounding the table. Slight dirt, air holes cloned out to give appearance of ice. Resized, sharpened, border added. |

Excellent shot - nice dynamics. One of my favourite games too. I love the clarity you've achieved from that translucent puck, which is very well captured in motion and freeze. |

Definately shows movement. It seems kind of grainy, and I assume that's from the darkness. I like the slow shutter speed used here. Not always my favorite effect, but you have done it nicely. I like how this was taken from a corner, and not directly head on. Overall a nice action shot. ~Heather~ |

Maybe if you had not cropped so tight on the right? I used to love air hockey. Great fun. I think you met the challenge well. |

I like the idea. Good action shot but it gives the impression that the player is playing alone. Should have had a hand on the handle in the foreground and it would have given the impression of a competition. |
