Challenge: Where's Waldo? III (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
Location: USA
Date: Jun 24, 2007
Aperture: F2.8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/2000s
Galleries: Black and White
Date Uploaded: Jun 24, 2007

Besides being black and white and a fairly half-assed attempt at 'hiding' the person in the photo, I expect this will suffer from me not dialing in the correct aperture for the shot. I stumbled upon this scene and had maybe ten seconds to get my camera out and ready to roll before the guy was past the bridge. F8 and be there, indeed.

I like that you cut him directly in half. It works well with the overall composition. I gave this a 7.

Too easy to find

Walking out of the right side of the picture. Nice sequence of light posts.

Interesting choices made here, especially the narrow depth of field focused on the far end of the bridge. It's a neat idea, and is generally suitably executed, but I think for me the DoF doesn't work so well (though the more I look the more I feel it driving me to the person, which I like), and I would liked to have seen more contrast in tones throughout the image.

Good composition. I think if "waldo" had been in the frame a bit more, the crop wouldn't look quite so accidental.

Nice choice of focus. I like your use of black and white. However, I wouldn't find it very interesting without Waldo. I like to see Waldo as a secondary surprise rather than the sole purpose. Yet, I think you've technically met the challenge. This is a tough one to vote on.

this isn't Waldo, it's Wal! Or Do, for that matter ;)

I like the leading lines directing to him.

OK I will be honest and say I got your Waldo fairly quickly although I really like the way that compositionally he is unintentionally mimicing the lamp posts which I think creates a very pleasing effect. Quite like the dof (though possibly could have been a shade deeper for my own tastes) and a good B&W conversion

I like your framing. He looks like he is part of the bridge.
