This is YOUR kind of shot...tells a story, excellently done and makes me wonder about the subject. You were robbed in this challenge. Even if it didn't ribbon it should have placed much, much higher.
What's really nice here is the almost voyeristic angle, amazing that the lights are not blown out but you can still see he features cleanly, the really nice depth of field (getting the "laundry" not too blurry while having great focus on him...and that's just the technical side. Well done. |

Going through my fave folder to see who had done what since I rarely fave images after challenge anymore. I saw this in thumb and popped it open and - ah yes I remember this one. If I am not mistaken this was my top choice for the challenge. So much to take in, a story that is being told and a feeling in my gut for the main character. I remember thinking in challenge "Oh man this would suck" followed by an "Oh man I love my wife". Excellent capture and totally stunned it scored under 6. |

Maybe his washing machine broke, and he has a wife and 3 kids at home.
Great shot.. |

So underrated. This is spectacular. Goes to show if it doesn't bite 'em in the ass, they don't get it. Way artistic and cool, skip. |

terrific work - love everything about this. The story is obvious to me even before I read your comments.
I'm interested in the technicals here. The DOF seems really deep for a f/2.8 shot. Is this cropped heavily? My guess is you standing back from the window and had to crop down to this so the DOF works - would love to hear your side of it so I don't have to guess anymore!
Amazing work like this being consistently overlooked is a distressing trend on this site. I choose to fight the trend by removing myself from it's influence. I'm glad you're still submitting such great work. |

You were robbed...this should have placed higher. I love the composition and the title fits so well. This screams solo...I remember being single and going to the laundry on a saturday night...all by myself! Well done.

I agree with everybody else skip. Very underrated! I don't think alot of voters really think when they vote. Like a middle aged man, no partner, flying solo, etc... Just b/c there are so many pictures to be voted on. Anyways, top picture in my book. Nice job |

Great shot, Skip, and great story you've concocted to go with it. I can relate to this gentleman to some extent, though solo is all I've known. I actually don't mind laundromats, though. Great place to people watch and do as you did - make up stories to go with them. |

I like the B/W; it has a retro look to it. |

Good composition. Would have been better to show fellow sitting alone in a row of chairs, reading magazine while waiting for laundry. |

Lots of great layers to this composition, I find myself peeling them back to get to the heart and soul of this scene. Such a fascinating photograph...great job! |

Love this! Something about Laundromats that makes them photogenic, especially in B&W! Well that's what I reckon anyway : )
Great title too! |

Great use of framing with the painted lettering on the storefront window. The tones are focus are perfect. I like this a lot! 8 |

i threw a quick vote on this and moved on but i had to come back...this is a great emotive shot and to have the faded window lettering is brilliant, hope this gets the treatment it deserves. /10 |
