I was sitting in front of church and taking candids of people as the passed by for the last Candid Challenge. I was also shoot some macros in front of the church. Steven and some others came along after the social hour after church. Steve was walking towards and posed. I took two shots and they were not working. As I chimped the bad pictures and adjusted the camera shutter speed, Steve pulled out his pipe and lit up. I had meant to take the lens off macro mode and forgot. I took two shots, another and this, just as Steve finished lighting his pipe and puffed a billow of smoke. I got a kick out of how it turned out and so did Steve and the others. Hope you do as well.

Post: I processed and reprossed this image until I got to this final form. Concvert from raw in PSElements 3.0 with a +0.33 exposure compensation. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. May have also been a curves adjustment. Expunged some dust in the background. Mask selection of Steve and the Pipe and applied NeatImage to the background. Sharpen. Resize. Sharpen.

I really like the subject and the shot is good. I would have preferred to see the subject moved closer to the left hand side and more negative space on the right, including the whole smoke cloud.
