Excellent capture! Sharp, clear, clean and very crispy!
By the way, you've doing very well with your new camera, Lynn. I also love wild flowers, but don't know the names of anyone. Great job on your front page!!! |

I agree with everything except removing the debris ... hey, that's nature. Love it as it is. This is an absolutely fantastic shot. Beautiful!!!! |

Oh, that is not a pretty bug! Interesting contrast to have that hairy-looking beast on top of the delicate, pale flower ... |

in the words of Mick Jagger: "Hey! You! Get offa my flower!" :)
A robber Fly, eh? I guess this must be some sort of surveillance photo then. LOL
Oh sorry - I am in a weird mood tonight. The images is fantastic. Brad's edit makes it even more so - bringing out the detail in that criminal insect. :) |

Nice detail on the fly and the flower! Either that is one big fly or a small flower. |

Snow on the mountain a great shade plant. I seldom notice them in bloom, this is great. |

What do you mean ooops it was set to 400? 400 is fine on the 350D/400D.
The tones & levels here look good, as is the sharpness.
The more I looked at this, the more I saw could be done with it:
- to ->
(open each in a new window and switch
between them to see the changes easily)
What I did to it was to make a new layer and select the fly and bring some shadow detail out, then history brush everything back that wasn't the fly. Then made a new layer via copy, used the selective color adjustment, yellow, and added 20% yellow, and erased back all teh leaves to make sure I didn't change their subtle tones. Flattened. Then using the color picker tool (eyedropper), I selected a rather bold yellow (hex#faee2e), and using a soft-edged brush in color burn mode at about 6%, painted over the yellows in the flowers, repeating a few times until it looked plausible without over-saturation. Overlay mode would work as well, and would not alter the base pixels. When done, I flattened and went to selective color adjustments and bumped the whites just a touch.

Odd combination leads to a nice image. That robber fly does look like a thief. :) |

Haven't encountered Snow on the Mountain before. Great photo.
The flower is so tailored and the fly is very hairy and filigree.
The contrast is really interesting.(I'm a big bug fan anyhow.) |
