We cooked burgers and dogs today, in honor of Independence Day. This little guy looked on silently, hoping with all he was worth that we wouldn't notice him.

Every time I think of Independence Day, I remember Bill Pullman as the president flying a fighter jet and attacking an alien star cruiser. Of course it was Randy Quaid who eventually took it out by flying into the belly of the beast, his silly grin smiling wide as he cries "I'm Baaack!"

It was such a fun movie. I liked the part where a stripper saved the first lady...

I guess you had to be there.

We've come a long way since the days of dumping tea into the harbor to oppose taxes. Now we vote for politicians who promise to raise other people's taxes.

History Trivia time: England's King George (circa 1776) was not British --He was German.

But this little guy just wanted to sit on his leaf and grab a snack. I let him be after a few quick snaps.

(P.S. it was suggested I might sharpen him a bit more, so I have. Please F5 you screen if you been here before.)

Oh, and for those who expected a more patriotic theme, I offer this alternative:

He's a cutie! I love bug photos, even if they are of stinkbugs... I think it is an interesting thing to document the unseen world around you. You did a good job with his little face too :)

Very nice, perhaps a little more sharpness would make it even greater.

love your write-up. Yes, we're a long way from watering the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants and patriots, aren't we. (nice bug shot -- looks like it's waving.)

Interesting beetle. It looks like he's eating another beetle's leg.
