July 6th:
Every morning this summer I have left my apartment by 6:45 & made the 45 minute drive to San Marcos for my 8 am summer class. Around 7:30 I pull into this parking spot & catch the bus to campus for my 2 hour class, then I take the bus back & pull my car back out of this spot to make the drive back to Austin for work. I have never had summer classes before, so it's been an adjustment, but it'll all be worth it when I (finally) graduate this December. I just realized today that I never use any other parking space, the lot is usually pretty empty this early & truthfully I used to park in another lot, but running late every morning, I decided this was ideal being the last bus stop on the route. Looking at this picture will always remind me of this hectic summer, and my faithful parking spot.

It is neat to get a look into your life like this kelly! Your faithful parking spot!! LOL that cracks me up. Nice B&W conversion!

The grain gives this an auld-lang-syne memory kind of feeling that suits the notes perfectly. :)

I love the processing here. It really plays into the nostalgia of the subject. And no matter how hectic it is you'll cherish it when it's over. (Took me quite a few years to get there, lol... but it comes :) )

There's some interesting geometry here -- the angle of the curb, the strip for the parking spot, and the fence. B&W works well here.

I used to work in one of those huge buildings in Los Angeles. There was actually quite a camaraderie in the garage. My parking space was four levels down and I used to see the same people in the elevators and escalators every morning. You can have some interesting conversations going up for stories on an escalator.

Great story. Graduation day really does make it all worth it.
As for the picture itself - I like the feel of slowly drying rain on the pavement and the way the lines and angles play off of each other. Only criticism is it could be a tad sharper. Of course at 7:30 AM, nothing is sharp. :)

Wow. Summer classes are definitely different, and you are right, it is worth it on graduation day.

Kelly what a fantastic story and I am really glad you took this shot. It is amazing how dynamically conservative people can be

Whenever I commute to London (3-4 times a week) I catch the same train (the 6:53) and the same people are on the platform, when the train arrives we all sashay to the same seats, if on occasion there is an interloper on the platform who takes one of the seats in throws the 'victim' out completely (though they never take on of the other regulars seats)

Thank you for sharing you story

Jon
