I had not planned on entering either open challenge this week. No inspiration for either. Aimee is away in Thailand for 2 weeks so the kids and I drove down to Cincinnati to visit the zoo and aquarium. While walking around the zoo we came across this path that led through a mister. The kids really love these things. I popped off a bunch of shots. The mister at the Columbus Zoo has cool surroundings. This one does not. Its just a covered walk way with no plants or anything> But still I thought it might be cool. Once home I started editing it up. Not a whole lot - RAW conversion, crop, levels adjustment layer and then a tweak in color, NI and USM. Looking at it when I was finished it had a slight eerie feel to it. I was thinking to maybe use it in dreams but I couldn't think of a title. But for nightmare it came pretty quick. This is my greatest nightmare - for Rowan, Aidan or Aimee. More so for my kids but only because I know my wife has is saved through Christ.

So I enter this image into nightmare. A challenge that I am sure will be filled with freaky and scary images, maybe this image will stand out. Will still probably score real low, but if some parents out there take the time to read the title and understand the image I am sure they could relate. It's a bit unsettling looking at this image now.

And let me just add that she was unbelievably poopy, right through her shorts. With no back up clothes with us I would rank this as my second greatest nightmare.

This is cool but a little too "Challengy" for my liking.
edited: read your comments and for an unplanned shot....that makes it cooler.

I gave this a '9' - the purple was so vibrant, the message so vivid. This would indeed be my worst nightmare, as well.

Surely every parents greatest nightmare . .

A good subtle shot, if it was anymore complex it would distract.

Tim - I love the image, it evokes emotions. Brought tears to my eyes. And your message to parents is a sweet one and is true for all of us, making each day a blessing. Reminding us that "all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children." Isaiah 54:13

And to think you didn't want to enter it because it was title-dependent. Congrats on a new color ribbon to add to the collection! No way I can catch you now. :-)

Congratulations, great photo, it's like a scene out of the X-Files show. I love to share the top with TWO BUCKEYES from OHIO and an OK, from my brother's state.

Just coincidentially, along with Pennywise, the clown, the top six on this web page at this time, relate to Flying, Dying, and Angels. Men are known to dream of women and money, too.

Thank your young model. Looks like she could also be walking on stage for a rock band or play. Being in front of a large audience is scary to some.

It's a very cool photo, I want to give it a 10 but: the title just makes it more confusing and like your trying to convince me it fits the challenge. Hmmm?

Awesome. My only 10 of the challenge. I would have gone with a bluish light, but the purple color you used is more surreal. Nicely done!
