 In the supposed attempt to 'improve' historic downtown Kemptville, near where I live, they have done just the opposite and many businesses have either gone under (see the Book Market's closed sign?) or are about to do so. So much for progress. There was no sign of life and happiness except in this planter box of flowers, located - where else? - outside one of the few businesses able to remain open...a bank.

Excellent shot. Ya boo etc to the nay sayers. I think I might have tried to rotate so the fence, or maybe just that main pole, is parallel to the edge - the crookedness looks accidental.
Very much a legitimate social documentation photograph in the spirit of street photography in my arrogant humble opinion.

Marvelous photo and statement. I am very surprised at the score. I guess there were two factors: no people and not b&w. Well the color is what I like about this very lively shot of your dead downtown, and the lack of people is the statement. So the point is made and very nicely at that.
