My son built this fort entirely with his own hands, mostly when he was about 9, although he's added bits to it since then. Now that we have to move, he's been taking it apart very slowly; this was taken right before we did a pretty intense demolition session that left only the one main part of the platform standing. He's pretty philosophical about it -- he says when we get our own house, he can build a better one. Maybe even one that won't make Mom worry for his life and limbs every time he's on it. :)

I'm assuming that is the architect of the fort in the background? I like that you included him in this picture. This looks like the ultimate building block set. Also looks like he has quite the imagination as well. I think he will get his chance again soon to rebuild and improve on his creation.

Awh! I used to love playing in forts when I was little, mine were usually alot simpler (is that a word!?) though, a tree or a cut out in some brush. Very cool, glad he had a "place of his own"! :)

What a poigniant story. I dont really feel that there is much I can comment on as this is a part of your life where there is much change that you have opened up to us. The two things I would say are

1. Thank you for sharing this
2. I hope its not too long before your son gets to build his next fort

So maybe I've missed the rest of the story, but what about the house/property you were looking at from Day 7?
I still like that view.

Thanks for asking. That property is tied up in probate, so it's a real mess and we won't have a clue whether we can get it or not for a while. The whole situation is very frustrating. We're encountering so many roadblocks in the home-buying process (people not returning our calls, other people putting in offers JUST before we do, annoying stuff like that) that we're beginning to wonder if God has other plans for us at this point. We'll wait and see.
