I submitted this to the Nightmare challenge and it totally bombed so I pulled it.

However, I don't have a photo for yesterday and none yet for today, so I thought I would post it here. I'm actually fond of this photo, regardless of what the voters think.

And here's the story. Shortly after my Guido episode - a few days - I went to pour myself a glass of water from a new gallon bottle. When I took the glass to drink, there was a little scorpion floating on top - dead.

Hello!

Thankfully, I didn't drink. I think it might have come from the bottom of the bottle. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Needless to say, I had to take photos and got some good shots - or so I thought. I put my halogen desk lamp right up to the glass, which is turquoise, and that's how I got that effect.

You nailed the sci-fi feel. The more I look at this photo, the more I like it. Great shot!

That's a downright creepy tale! Scorpions really creep me out, they skitter across the floor so quickly, ugh. I love this shot, very surreal!

That looks wonderful, pin sharp, and the scorpion somehow looks even strranger in death. I would have liked to have seen it in a square crop, with the right taken away so the turqoise was the right hand edge of the frame

Maybe it came from the glass? That would be freakin me out lol. It's a shame you pulled this pic. I love the yellowish glow and the blue streak - looks cool!

Odd, this is very cool to me. We have lots of scorpions around here you get used to them after a while, I wouldn't want to drink one mind you...

Very unusual but in a good way..... I like how you made it into a square crop.....

That would be a nightmare, and I can't imagine why it was bombing. Oh well... very gross, but great capture of the dead scorpion.

Alicia!!!! Where to start?

1) I cant believe this was bombing in the nightmares challenge it is so cool. I love the sharpness of the image and the border is very very cool and the halogen light looks like a tractor beam from a space craft

2) I cant believe you pulled it given that it was bombing...Ohh you cruel cruel woman will you not give me the shallow pleasure of even one victory

3) A gallon bottle of wine!!!! Quality....I reckon given the stress you had last week you would have been in your rights to quaff the whole lot in one sitting, scorpion or no scorpion

4) Not taken today>>>>DNMC Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ;-)

very cool! it is my personal experience that if you are terrified then more scorpions will continue to appear, until you just don't care anymore. i no longer scream like a ten year old girl... just get the jar, trap it and go on with my business... and fewer come to visit! now, about the photo- halogen lamp is a great addition.. really adds to the drama by creating that awesome touch of color. wish there was just a hair-widths more space at the top of the frame- but that's just me being picky. certainly a good nightmarish image!
